I struggled to find the perfect solution for my DX. I have a jacket style cover that is far bulkier, but maintains its protective hold on the DX while I read. The Protec Sleeve is far more space efficient, but the Kindle must be completely pulled out to read. This can be an inconvenience when on a plane or in public transportation, but is great for home reading. I don’t like having to keep track of two things when on the move.

The reservations I have are not with the particular sleeve, but with the concept of a sleeve cover. The case is well made and fits the DX well. It offers the right compromise of padding and size. Not too big, but still protective. Won’t save the kindle from all insults, but will likely protect from most minor spills and rough handling in a brief case or purse.

I haven’t found the perfect DX cover and have concluded it might not be possible. This was purchased with travel in mind. It is space efficient and fits nicely in my briefcase. My issue – and I don’t think I’m alone based on observations – is that air travel and reading are a sure recipe for dozing. This was OK when I was dropping only magazines mid-flight, but more of a concern a $400 electronic device with a glass screen is involved.

I just got my DX and tried this sleeve and it is perfect for my needs. I like to use my Kindle naked and i was just looking for something that would easily be able to slip on and off while providing good protection. Aesthetically, the sleeve looks cool. It’s got a slightly shiny, techie looking rugged exterior and it’s very sleek and thin – compliments the Kindle nicely. Functionally, it’s sort of rigid and seems like it offers really good case like protection. The velcro opening makes it easy to use and I can leave it in my bag and just pop the kindle in and out. Becasue it’s rigid, I can also just slide my Kindle in without it collapsing into the bag. For $25, it’s a great value.
